· On Tuesday, March 9th the National Latin Exam will be administered during period 3.  Students who have signed up for the introductory exam. Latin I exam or Latin 2 exam will be tested on Tuesday.  Students should be sure to have their pass signed by their Tuesday period 3 teacher should go to the room that is designated on their entrance pass.

· On Wednesday, March 10th the National Latin Exam will be administered during period 2.  Students who have signed up for the Latin 3 Prose exam, the Latin 3 Poetry exam or the Latin 5/6 exam will be tested on Wednesday.  Students should be sure to have their pass signed by their Wednesday period 2 teacher and should go to the room that is designated on their entrance pass.

Bulletin for Thursday, March 4, 2010

• Outdoor Track & Field Team:  If you’re interested in joining the Outdoor Track & Field team, there is a mandatory Spring Track meeting on Thursday, March 4th in the Main Cafeteria immediately after school.  Contact Mr. Leussler in Room 337 with questions.

• ‘The junior and senior class are hosting a student vs. Faculty dodge ball game on Thursday, March 18th. 15+ teachers have already signed up and there will be 15-20 students chosen to play against them. Students who buy tickets will be entered into a raffle. The first 15-20 winners picked will get to play in the game against the teachers. Tickets will be sold at all three lunches as of this Friday up until the Monday prior to the game. Tickets are $3. Please help us make this be a successful fundraiser.  Thank you!

• Small Posters and Fliers: If you have fliers you are putting up to advertise an event, fundraiser, or club please make sure you put them on a bulletin board, a classroom door, inside the classroom or designated “announcement” areas in the school. Paper posted on the brick wall or other aesthetically unpleasing areas will be taken down for fire code reasons. All paper must have a contact person or it will also be taken down. · Swim team members who ordered clothes:  You may pick up your orders before or after school in room 206 (Ms. Byrne).

· Tickets for the Student vs. Faculty Dodgeball Game will be sold by Senior and Junior officers at all three lunches. Cost is $3 on Wednesday and Thursday and $5 Friday and Monday. The game will take place after school in the gym on Wednesday, March 10th. Raffle winners will be picked on Monday, March 8th.

· BLA debaters Ashley Belizaire and Soroche Kohistani took second place in the Junior Varsity division at the Boston Debate League City Championship tournament at the Boston University Law School on Friday and Saturday. Stephanie Thermora and Kadiatu Tejan-Marrah placed ninth, just missing the quarterfinal elimination rounds. Ashley won the fifth speaker award in the JV division, while Stephanie took ninth place. In the Varsity division, Edith Ayuso won the second speaker award, while Vanessa Zamy placed fifteenth. Congratulations to the whole team on another excellent showing and an outstanding year. If you think you might be interested in debate next year, speak to Mr. Barry or any member of the team.

· Student Visitors from Kyoto, Japan! As some of you may know, students and teachers from Horikawa High School in Kyoto, Japan, the BLA’s partner school, will be visiting BLA on Wednesday March 10th and Thursday March 11th. Over the course of the two days, the BLA students studying Japanese will be hosting 36 students from Kyoto while Horikawa students will be “shadowing” their BLA partner students visiting their classes. Teachers whose classes will be visited have already given their permission. I would appreciate your warm welcome to these students from our partner school in Japan and thank you in advance for your assistance in this matter. · BLA Interpreters Meeting Wednesday March 10th from 2:00pm to 3:00pm in Room 203. Contact Person:  Ms. Roche Room 203.

· Musical Talent Night (MTN) is coming! Auditions for musically talented BLA students and teachers will be held after school on Tuesday, March 16th and Friday, March 19th.
