Parents
- Know the mission of Boston Latin Academy.
- Be informed about the college path process.
- Hold my child accountable to achieve his/her best in all subjects.
- Make sure my child is ready to learn: well rested and well nourished.
- Assure child is in school everyday and on time.
- Monitor my child’s progress (midterm warning/report card/attendance record/tardy record).
- Monitor my child’s homework assignment.
- Attend Back-to-School Night and Evening Parent Conferences.
- Provide a quiet place to study.
- Be involved in the School Parent Council.
- Attend my child’s school sponsored activities (sports events, plays, musical events, cultural events etc).
Administration
- Be accessible to students, parents, and faculty members.
- Maintain a safe and orderly school environment.
- Implement the BPS Code of Discipline and assure due process for students and staff.
- Model respect, understanding and appreciation for all members of the school community.
- Promote sound organizational and management procedures.
- Foster effective leadership in promoting improvements of schools and educational programs.
Teachers
- Maintain a safe orderly learning environment with clear and consistent expectations.
- Communicate learning goals and high expectations to students and parents.
- Provide enough time and help for students to learn the subject matter.
- Use fair and effective assessments of student learning.
- Keep parents informed of what is expected and how students are doing.
- Reach out to parents and make them part of their child’s education.
