Youth Inaugural
Deval Patrick and Tim Murray are committed to encouraging young people to be engaged and active citizens. In support of that commitment, they’ve arranged for a special youth forum where hundreds of high school students from across the Commonwealth will come together on Inauguration Day to celebrate the importance of civic engagement and leadership. Students will also share their ideas about how they can have a voice and a role in the future of the Commonwealth.

Each public high school in the Commonwealth is being asked to send two students (one male, one female in grades 9-12) for a conversation with the Governor-elect and Lt. Governor-elect. Student representatives from independent schools will also be invited to attend. The event is at the Tremont Temple at 85 Tremont Street in Boston (just around the corner from the State House).

We recently sent a letter to superintendents across the state asking them to work with their high school principals to identify their delegates. If you are a superintendent and you have not received your letter, or if you have any questions, please feel free to contact Michele Norman, Youth Inaugural Director, by e-mail at or by phone at 617-367-2006, extension 302.
