For any parents whose son might be interested in playing lacrosse this spring, please take a look at this information about a boys’ citywide lacrosse team that is presently in the process of forming.  (BLA does not have a varsity lacrosse team at this time).  We have great youth leagues across the city and this could be a way for some of the boys who have played when they were younger to continue playing, as well as provide an opportunity for boys who have never played lacrosse, to play at the high school level.

Here is information from the coaches who are working to set up the team:

Parkway Youth Lacrosse, in conjunction with Dorchester Youth Lacrosse is in the process of developing and fielding a Club lacrosse team for High School Boys from the City of Boston. This effort will require careful planning, serious recruiting and some fundraising to field a team(s) in the Spring of 2009. This program will be intended for boys whose High school does not have a lacrosse team or in situations where the player is not participating in the High School program. There will be a fee for participation to cover expenses. We will expect a total commitment to participate including attendance at all practices and games. We are exploring practice and playing fields central to the population that participates. We are also considering possible transportation options and financial aid for those who require assistance.
We will be contacting the public high schools and initiate mass emailing to get a handle on the number of interested players. Please forward this email to any potential player. We expect to have this initial survey done by early December and then forward information to all interested players.
