ATTENTION BLA SENIORS
Submit an essay answering one of the questions listed below by March 28, 2010 and you could win a $1000 award from the Friends of Boston Latin Academy!
ESSAY QUESTIONS
1. What person or author has influenced you most during your tenure at BLA, and how has he or she affected your education and your life?
2. In your opinion, what is the greatest challenge your generation will face in your lifetime and what are your ideas for dealing with that challenge?
HOW IT WORKS
· Select ONE of the essay questions listed above.
· Write a 2 to 3 page essay answering the question.
· Essay should be double-spaced in Times New Roman, font size 12.
· Please include a cover sheet with your name and homeroom teacher. Do not put your name on the essay itself but include the cover sheet with your name.
· Before submitting your essay please have an adult (teacher, parent, or mentor from an established organization) read it and give feedback. If necessary, make changes to strengthen your essay, using the 8 bulleted points below to guide you.
· E-mail your completed essay to Ms. Feeney at no later than 10:00 p.m. March 28, 2010.
Essays will be judged by the Essay Award Committee, and the winner will be announced at the Senior Awards Ceremony in May.
Essays will be judged on the following criteria:
· Originality and creativity
· Organization of thoughts
· Clarity of points
· Voice (connects the reader to the text)
· Sentence structure
· Word choice
· Grammar, punctuation, spelling
· How well the question is answered
