Help Us Treat Our Faculty to Lunch on 6/28/11

Dear Parents and Guardians,

It’s that time of year again. The BLA parents are planning our annual Faculty Appreciation Lunch for Tuesday, June 28, 2011 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM in Latin Academy’s Hapgood Library. We are expecting approximately 100 guests, including teachers, administrators and support staff. We need volunteers to plan for or help with the following:

Table cloths for library tables - donated by MC Brown and S Horan

Sandwiches, Calzones, etc. - finger sandwiches, wrap sandwiches, small sandwiches (any kind). We’ll need about 3 small sandwiches per person; that’s about 300 sandwiches. (Of course, we expect several people to volunteer for this one. If you can get a donation from your local supermarket, that would be great. If you need a letter from the Friends of BLA, let me know.) Other suggestions include large hero sandwiches (BJ’s has them) that can be cut up, cold chicken platter, cheese platter, whatever as long as it doesn’t need to be cooked or kept hot. We are open to suggestions. 2 sandwich platters donated by M Canale; sandwiches for 30 donated by C Stovell; mini sandwiches for 60 donated by S Low; mini sandwiches for 60 donated by A Browne

Salads & dips - macaroni salad, green salad, potato salad, fruit salad, tabouli, hummus, veggies & dip, etc. (Please provide serving utensils, if necessary, or let us know if we need to get them.) Tabouli Turkish style (for 50) donated by F Ercem; minted berry salad (for 20) donated by L McCaughey; green salad donated by B Feeney; green salad donated by M Demaray; fruit plate donated by W Santis

Appetizers & Snacks - individual bags of chips, pretzels, etc. 100 bags of chips donated by S. Mastrogiacomo; crackers & cheese donated by E Cousins; chicken wings donated by T Nguyen

Water - 100 bottles of water donated by L McCaughey, M Monteiro & SPC

Beverages - Serving size bottles/liters of juice and/or soda 2 large juices donated by M Monteiro

Desserts/Fruit - cookies, brownies, cake, etc. and/or grapes, fruit salad cut up watermelon donated by E Chertov; cake donated by S Dartley; Danish donated by W Santis, dessert for 30 donated by C Stovell, cupcakes donated by S Low

Hot coffee and milk/cream - for about 25 people - Two Boxes of Joe from Dunkin donuts would be perfect donated by N Marzouki

Paper plates - 150 lunch size paper plates (heavy duty, soak proof) and 150 dessert size paper plates lunch plates donated by M Crockett; dessert plates donated by M Pizzaro

Plastic Utensils & Napkins & Paper cups - 200 forks and 200 napkins (We already have spoons and knives.) 100 paper all donated by R McGrath

Setup and serving - Let me know if you can commit to come on the 28th. We’ll start setting up in the library about 9:45 or 10 but you can come any time. F Ercem, S Horan, K Lally, C Manzi, N Marzouki, D Kellough, R Stovell, M Brown, S Dartley & daughter

Items for a Free Raffle - In past years people donated gift certificates (from Barnes & Noble, Borders, Blockbuster, Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks, etc.) beach gift sets (chair, towel & personal cooler), which we raffled off. Please help in any way that you can. If you can donate part of an item, we’re happy to accept. Anything you can do is valuable.
